Joshua's Birthday Party

We celebrated Joshua's birthday this Saturday with some friends and family. He wanted a soccer birthday party. Basically we just had soccer decorations and a soccer ball cake. I made the cake and I used the soccer ball cake pan but one side did not come out right. So instead of an entire soccer ball being on the "field of grass" there was just a half. Oh well, I said it was an aerial view.

It was pretty cold outside so we had a bouncy house set up in the garage (it was still cold) and played bowling inside. We also played Pass the Present and then tried to bust open a pinata in the back yard. An adult finally had to help get it open! My mother-in-law took a couple of swings and knocked it to the ground! We had hotdogs that my husband and brothers-in-law stood outside in the cold to grill. Thanks guys! It was a fun day and I really enjoyed watching the kids have fun.

Joshua, My Five Year Old

My Joshua turns 5 tomorrow. Time has flown by and I was unprepared for how fragile my children could make me. I am constantly praying for them and wondering about them...their present...their future. They have no idea how much I love them. Thought I show them and tell them all the time. They will not know of this love until they have children of their own.

I know that tomorrow Joshua will have 2 mothers who are thinking about him and how big he is. I know I am the blessed one. Praise God for this Gift! I have been able to watch him grow and take pride in what he is becoming. I have all the memories and know that if given the chance, there will be more memories to make.

I grieve for his other mother. For her loss. I hope that one day she will be able to look at all I have sent for her and that she will be blessed with the knowledge that she gave him life and a home. She wanted the best for him. I love her and I thank her for making a hard decision that has brought so many people joy. I pray that one day we can know eachother and be friends. That I can share with her our story.

Joshua,
God knew where you were and saw exactly what you needed: A Father and Mother, a home. He saw Daddy and Mommy and knew exactly what we needed: You. God knows our every need and our every desire and he has a perfect plan for our lives. I pray that you will learn to let God lead you and that you will trust that His ways are GOOD. At 5 there is so much that you have learned but there is still so much to go. You are a joy, you are my heart. I look at you and still see the cute dimpled little baby boy who would gnaw on my chin when teething. I see the echo of the man you will become. The strength, the courage, the tenderness, the intelligence and the humor.

I will always love you. "Forever and ever, whole wide world."

Sailboat Cake

I made this cake for a shower. I thought it turned out well. It was fun to make and if I hadn't waited until the last minute I could have gotten a lot more creative with it! Let me know if you need a cake. I could seriously use the business.

New Year Revelations

Well it's a new year and I have entered a new decade of my life...the 30's! I wasn't sure how I would feel about this new age but I think it's going to be alright.

Well, I set some new goals for myself as I do every year. I have 2 specific goals that I will share. One is to not yell at stupid people when I am driving (But if I am not driving then it is okay! j/k). I have realized that I let bad driving tick me off way to much and with little ones sitting in the back... I don't want them to pick up that bad habit from me!

Anyways, the next one is to spend time in The Word EVERY day. I have been reading through the Bible and sharing with a group of ladies for a year now and even though I could break up the assigned reading into bits for every day, I have not been able to follow through. I know on the days I do read that life doesn't seem so hard. I feel buoyed and supported some how. I have more patience and peace, which is really important with 2 four year olds and and 1 year old.

Well those are a few of my goals. Surprisingly weight-loss is not a goal of mine this year. I am not going to make a big deal out of it. I am just going to make more of an effort to excercise. Anyways, what are your goals? Does anyone want to share?
